Discovery Meadows Community Park

Located in the McMinnville School District 40 attendance zone, this property offers an amazing park with picnic shelters, playgrounds, a climbing wall, and a splash park. It also has a skating area and basketball courts.

Picnic Shelters

A beautiful new park design that offers fantastic amenities throughout this 22-acre site. Picnic shelters, playgrounds with moving features and challenges, a play structure w/towers, climbing wall and climbing boulder, water feature, basketball courts, skateboard area, and walking pathways.

The community also features sports facilities including a baseball court. There is also a three-acre lake within the park.

McMinnville is home to a variety of restaurants and boutique shops. It also boasts a nostalgic downtown and several local breweries. The city is easily accessed via Highway 99W and is about an hour from the Oregon coast. Aside from the numerous wineries and other natural wonders, McMinnville has many fun activities that the whole family can enjoy. The Rotary Nature Preserve at Tice Woods, for instance, has soft trails and micro-environments that are hard to ignore.

Kids can test their strength and endurance on a play replica of Eugene’s unique basalt climbing columns at Skinner Butte, or practice their creativity in Pioneer Village, where they can pretend to be blacksmiths, hotel guests, or even the town mayor!

McMinnville has an impressive collection of parks for all ages. In addition to Discovery Meadows Community Park, you can also visit Wortman Park and Joe Dancer Park in the area. These parks have amenities like disc golf, basketball courts, and a skateboard park.

The city is also home to the incredible Wings and Waves Waterpark, a massive indoor water park. There’s also the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, home of Howard Hughes’s Spruce Goose.

McMinnville is the heart of Oregon wine country with over 220 vineyards in Yamhill County. The region offers a variety of activities like shopping, dining, and lodging for visitors to enjoy. McMinnville is a great destination for a weekend getaway.

Splash Park

The city of McMinnville’s parks, including Discovery Meadows Community Park, offers a fun way to spend a day with your family. The park includes playgrounds for kids ages 2-12, a climbing wall, a skate park, walking and biking paths (including 1.3 miles of paved), and ball fields.

The museum has a pair of large symmetrical buildings and features many historic aircraft and exhibits, including an SR-71 Blackbird and a Titan II SLV Missile. Other attractions in the area include Wings and Waves Waterpark, Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, and Joe Dancer Park.

In addition to the museums, there are a variety of shops and restaurants to visit. The downtown district also has a wide range of banks and credit unions, as well as local craft breweries.

Skate Park

For those looking for more active recreation, Discovery Meadows Community Park has a skate park with ramps and rails for skateboarders of all ages. The park also has three different playgrounds, picnic areas, four lit tennis courts, and two horseshoe pits.

The park’s hard surface pathways are perfect for running, biking, and walking, and it offers a variety of forested hiking trails with stunning scenic views. The Portland & Western Railroad maintains a depot in McMinnville, and intercity bus service is provided by Caravan Airport Transportation and Valley Retriever between Portland and Seattle.
